The Final Scene. Helloes and Goodbyes.

Today was an emotional day. It started last night with a disturbing phone call that kept me up past 2:00 a.m. I was too upset to sleep, so I emailed a friend. Which helped and granted me sleep, but not enough. Then I woke with an aching heart.

Already raw, I discovered Elliot Grace's blog, So Close, but... He had written a powerful post about the Gulf oil spill and how it is killing all the wild life.

I have purposely avoided the news for the last six months and, while I have known about this awful, awful event, when I saw the picture of this pelican, I was undone. His article is one of the most provocative pieces I have read in a while and I sobbed for all the littles who have no choice. If you haven't already, please click on over.

The tears have been close all day. Unable to write, I couldn't read or watch a movie or do anything else for more than a few minutes at a time. I am on empathic overload. So I read a few pages of three different books, none of which captivated me. I watched movies in the background. And I ate. A whole pound of Ranier cherries. Popcorn and cashews. Cheese and Triscuits.

I finally settled in with Breakfast at Tiffany's. I leave you with the final scene. We should all be so lucky.

I understand about not watching the news. I simply cannot. When I read Elliot's post, I cried. And that scene when she's looking for Cat tears me up every time. I can't listen to Moon River without crying-it's too close to that scene. You didn't go into the phone call, I can only imagine it set off these emotions. I hope that whatever it is, you find some peace and your heart heals...

Thank you for the link to such a beautifully written post. I'm so sorry to say my eyes have not been shut and I have watched this event in horror.

I hope your phone call was not to drastic and this comment finds you well.

I'm sorry you're feeling so blue. Elliot's piece was very powerful and made me cry as well.

Please take some time and go for a walk in nature. It will soothe your soul. If you can.

Thank you so much for your compassion and caring. Knowing you care helps. I got a good ten hours sleep last night and, while I feel a bit logey this morning, the tears are farther away. What a blessing.

The walk in nature sounds divine. There is plenty around here so I think I'll pick a place and immerse myself.

Elliot's post was very powerful. This oil spill in incredibly devastating. It's hard to imagine so much destruction, so much waste. It does get overwhelming.

I hope your day gets better - it's hard to heal the heart. Take care and good luck. *hugs*

I always watch LAST OF THE MOHICANS when I'm in this mood. And BRAVEHEART; nothing like killing a bunch of villains make the world feel right again.

At least in my soul for a little while, as long as I'm buried in my fantasies.

Gosh, Olivia... you've had a lot of heartache lately. :( I hope things start looking brighter for you.

Since you're Adam Sandler video, I'm more apt to watching video's on posts. I've never watched Breakfast at Tiffany's, but now I think I might have to go buy it. :D

Oh, I've tagged you at my blog. :D
