How Do You Get Unstuck?

Congrats to Mary for getting unstuck. How'd she do it? By reading a friend's blog about something totally unrelated.

Never underestimate the power percolating in the blogverse.

Or in the ocean.

Or in the wisdom of a friend's words.

Or in the girl with the faraway eyes.

My writing sanctuary in the living room has kicked me out. I've been sent to my bedroom. There the words come. Clumsy, I will admit. I read what I wrote yesterday and it needs work. But I'm proud of every single shiny word.

Business is done for the day. Dinner is on the stove. Soon my belly will be full and I'll shuffle off to the rocker recliner in the bedroom. With my laptop. And my Florida notes.

Happy Writing to YOU! Olivia

I'm glad your friend got unstuck. I can't imagine writing all of a book in pen and paper.

As long as the words are coming, that's all that matters. For about ten minutes today, I got to write. Clumsily. But I did it. Maybe tomorrow it will be at least an hour's worth.

I think I need a writing chair....

Olivia, you make me feel so special!
The ideas seem to flow more easily with the pen and paper. Memories of childhood, perhaps.
I think the handwriting thing is to learn more about a blogger.
(One finger locked early this evening causing me to et the giggles!)

Walking often helps me get unstuk, but only if I don't think about the problem. My subconscious has to do all the work :)

Ah how often I have been kicked out of the living room. The doorbell rings, son's friends are over, party begins, I go upstairs. A million thanks to whoever invented the laptop.

I read Mary's post. I'm glad she's unstuck. I think it's so important to keep looking for ways until you find it.

Catherine, you're welcome and thank you, I did!

Words Crafter, clumsily is good. Tonight I had to force myself to sit here. But when I did, the words came. And it's not half bad. Of course I may think different tomorrow. But isn't it marvelous there will be a tomorrow to come back to.

I found the chair I'm in now at a thrift store for $20. No lie. I draped a red throw over it and voila, 'new' chair. Happy chair hunting if you do decide to go. :)

Mary, you're amazing. I bet your finger did lock and I can just imagine getting the giggles (and guns) in the middle of the night whilst writing. I'm so happy you're unstuck. And that I am, too. It's a big ahhhh.

Jemi, isn't it weird how that works!

Karen, Hear, hear for the wondrous laptop inventer. Jules, add that one to your list!

Hey Clarissa, in the past I have tended to hit a snag and bounce around the wasteland for a while until, poof. I see, hear and get just what I need to pop me out of it.

Raquel, I know, you too!

Ernest Hemingway advised writing one sentence that you knew was bedrock true whether it had anything to do with your story or not.

Then write another. Then another bottomline true sentence or truth.

When you filled a page with those, read them all. They will spark something essential and new for you to write in your story or novel, for you have tapped the unconscious mind.

It works for me. Have a great night's sleep/. Roland

Hey Roland, thanks for stopping by. I think I just GOT what you tried to tell me once before. OOOOHHHH. So the sentences don't have to be about what I'm writing, just about something true?

Your post came at a coincidental time. I had just finished reading some poetry I had written in my younger days as I was trying to remember some things for my post tomorrow. The Stones video really helped the memories flow.
And I add a Happy writing to you and us all!

Sometimes it's nice to get out of your routine. Sometimes that sparks the creative juices. Hmm...maybe I should try that!

Good advice! Thanks for the link.

I also liked Roland's suggestion. Never tried that.

And good song.

Have a great evening:)

Lee, I had radio.com on and had walked in to the other room. When I heard that steel guitar it was like he was twanging the strings of my heart. So many memories. I'm glad it helped. Happy writing!

Elana, I keep trying to write in my chair in the living room and dang it! All I can do here is fiddle with my ms and keep going back online. Time to move in to the bedroom again!

Yvonne, my pleasure. You have a lovely blog. You reminded me that I have an upcoming anniversary, too. My mom passed on 10/9/06. Hang on and ride it out. I'll be thinking of you.

Okay, Google has officially TICKED me off. I know I looked for another post from you and nothing. Now 23 hours later...

Anyway, regarding Roland I'm confused because I start this way; one sentence and then a story. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your comment and check my post comments for a recipe of a Kentucky Hotbrown.

That is one of my favorite Stones tunes. I Love the Stones.. and the Allman Brothers :D

Jules, Blogger can be a tricky bloke sometimes. I'm still very, very grateful for it, though.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong at all. Roland is talking about using it as a way to get unstuck. If you can write a sentence and get a story out of it, I'm guessing you're not stuck. And that's a good thing. :D

I love the Stones, too. And the Allman Bros. And Blues of any kind. And most classic rock.

I'll check out that recipe, thanks!~Olivia

Hmm... maybe your brain likes the energy/ambiance/light level/etc. in the bedroom better than the living room? But whatever the reason, I'm glad things are flowing for you again.

Kobico, could be. Or maybe I've spent way too many hours in the living room blogging and surfing the net. Either way, thank you!
