You Wrote How Much? Blogfest

Patti Nielson is having a You Wrote How Much? Blogfest! These are the rules, copied from Patti's blog:
Starting Monday, September 27th, you write down every minute you spend writing or editing everyday until Friday, October 1st.

On Monday, October 4th post your results, or you can keep everyone update to date daily if you'd like.
I typically count words written rather than time writing so this is a new approach for me. I thought I'd try it and see what happens.

I bet there's still time to sign up if you'd like to join in. Click here.

BTW, I spent several hours yesterday editing and writing but I didn't keep track of the time. I polished a couple of chapters and added another one, around 1500 words.

Thanks for the linke Olivia. I usually count words as well, but since I'm editing I wanted to see how much time I was spending on it.

I'm one of those quality over quantity fellows, Olivia.

Sounds like an intriquing contest. I just have so little free time that any time I take to count words is time I could be using actually writing.

That's the hard part. Editing and keeping track. I mean, just this morning I've deleted some 1,200 words and wrote more. I don't keep individual totals each time I delete something, so keeping an accurate tab would be hard.

Good luck!

Hrrm, I might try this. Let me see what happens when I open the laptop and the page tonight.

WTH!

Sorta glad I missed this blogfest... maybe I'll play along.

Today: 0wds, 0hrs, though I did think about it, and the day's not over yet, is it.

Plus I did blog today. That's good of me isn't it!

...great blogfest, unfortunately, I'm with Roland. I've no choice but to make the absolute most of what little time I'm granted at this point. I aim for two hours a day, editing, and most recently, hammering out the outline for my newest scribblings. Good luck to all who enter:)

I don't count time or words. For me, anyway, it's counterproductive. I just like to go with the flow.

But I think you can cheat and add on yesterdays'work. Let's see 1500 words divided by 8 hours, subtract three and you'll get as good a number as any;)

I think I may quite possibly be the only non-writer left in the world who still blogs. It will be interesting to see how your numbers come up, though.

Patti, makes sense to me. Thanks for hosting.

Roland, MS Word counts the words for me. I usually know my starting point and just subtract. Takes all of two seconds. Of course, as Patti says, you can't keep track of editing by counting words.

Justine, thanks!

Alex, welcome! Hope you join us.

Melissa, next time! :)

Jules, didn't get to write at all yesterday, had outside appointments and felt like crap. Oh well. There's always today.

Eric, you never fail to make me laugh, even when I feel like crap, like yesterday. Thanks, friend.

Elliot, two hours is good. You finishing your edits two hours at a time and now look. New work! :)

Terry, thank you! :)

Yvonne, thank you.

Jemi, you betcha! Are you joining us?

Kobico, I personally think you are an amazing writer and that everyone knows it but you. I do have quite a few blogs I follow of other 'nonwriters'. Yours is one of the best.

Sounds like it would be a great pusher to get things done. Sorry I missed it but I'm still catching up on the Great Experiment.

I carry paper around with me hoping to think up an idea as I muddle through the day and night. I write like crazy and read my notes a few dayz later.

Then I read "That Rebel Blog" and genius just flows onto my computer screan.

Mary, turns out this was an awful week for me to try this. Oh well.

Gargimehra, yay!

Wally, glad I could help. :D

This week for you, Olivia, was not so much how much you wrote but how much you overcame to deepen your perspective and understanding for when you do write to make it more authentic to the human experience.

Thanks, Roland. You're right about that. Did I tell you that when I was in Florida I was given a new book idea? A nonfiction about my experience with PTSD? Now I've got this to throw in to the mix as well.

I pray you get some relief from your own pain tonight.
