Last year I heard rumblings about Dragon*Con and something about pirates and faeiries and so forth. In researching Atlanta music venues for my favorites blues artist, I stumbled across this:
We can help get the word out to take Dragon*Con global:
There is a huge guest list. My top three must see/meets are: Terry Brooks, Timothy Zahn, and WILLIAM SHATNER! Yeeehaaa.
Plus, Charlaine Harris, Anne McCaffrey and so many more. Leonard Nimoy. Sean Patrick Flannery. For $90. Yeah. I'm going! SF Blogger family, let's get together and meet in Atlanta over the Labor Day weekend.
What say you, maties? Meet me at Dragon*Con 2011?

Dragon*Con is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe! For real?
This year, Dragon*Con will be held Labor Day weekend (September 2–5, 2011) in Atlanta, GA.HEY! That's MY neck of the woods! Whatever it costs, I'm putting Dragon*Con on my calendar for this year. Would anyone care to join me? If so, we should register soon. Several of the host hotels are already sold out. And the price (for the four days) goes from $90 to $105 after May 13th, and to $120 after July 15th.

So whether it is by telepathy, ansible, or signal fire, we need to get the word out. You don’t want to miss out on the chance to share Dragon*Con with the rest of the world!

sounds like fun. too bad Atlanta is so far away.
Yes it does sound like fun, loved the post.
Have a great week-end.
Yvonne.
Every year, the core group of this city's Science Fiction Club goes to Dragon Con. I hear from them in emails that it gets better each year. They invite me, but I am chained to my job. And I do not have the spare funds. I wish you luck finding your path there. Roland
There's no such thing as dragons; it's all a Dragon Con.
TERRY BROOKS?!
I grew up devouring Terry's work! (not to mention that I'm from the south, currently displaced, grrr, and am in need of a road trip:)
Hmmm...
Olivia, you're the best. Thanks so much for the info. I'll be suggesting this to the boss of the house, fingers crossed.
Have a great weekend,
EL
Oh wow, this does sound very interesting. Believe it or not, I am already booked for that weekend. But you're going to have to tell us all about it!
Wishful thinking for me. Its not the $90, or even the $120. Its the plane ticket to get there. And I've already spent my tax return.
I may still see if I can find a magician to say a few words or wave a wand or something though.
TERRY BROOKS!!! Man, do I love his books. I think I've got them all - or had them at some point. Put Terry Brooks and Anne McCafferty in a room together and I'd be hard pressed to say which I favor.
........dhole
Olivia: DragonCon is a great time. I have went in the past, but will not be there this year. It's a huge gaming and fan convention, so expect to get your nerd on! If you need some help/advice, feel free to drop me a line. I will share my sage nerd-wisdom. :)
